340B ESP will soon introduce functionality to support Data + Encounter submissions for pharmacy and medical claims. This expanded submission capability will include new encounter data fields that covered entities and their Partners may need to incorporate into their existing submission workflow.
What’s changing?
Encounter data includes information about the healthcare encounter associated with a 340B dispense or administration, such as the encounter date, provider, diagnosis, and service information.
When this functionality is available, applicable encounter fields should be included within the pharmacy or medical submission file. Encounter data should not be submitted as a separate file.
How can I prepare?
Covered entities and their Partners can begin reviewing the encounter data fields that 340B ESP will support and determining how those fields can be incorporated into their existing submission processes.
What’s next?
Fall of 2026, 340B ESP will be releasing an updated submission experience, along with new guidance for submitting pharmacy and medical claims with encounter data.
