Use this process to submit a contract pharmacy designation request if your Covered Entity is not registered in 340B ESP.

Designating a Contract Pharmacy Without a Registered 340B ESP Account

  1. Navigate to 340B ESP Designations.

  2. Enter your contact information. Be sure to use the email address associated with the Covered Entity you are designating for, as this will be used for follow-up communication.

  3. Enter the Covered Entity you are submitting the designation on behalf of.

  4. Confirm that you are an authorized representative of the Covered Entity by selecting the authorization checkbox.

  5. Locate the applicable manufacturer in the list and select Yes. This will display the manufacturer’s policy — review the policy carefully and confirm before proceeding.

  6. Select the Contract Pharmacy you would like to designate from the dropdown menu.

  7. Before submitting, confirm steps 1-4 within the workflow are green, then click Submit.

Once your request is submitted, a support specialist will review the designation and follow up if additional details are needed. They can also help clarify manufacturer policies, confirm designation status, and guide you through any next steps to ensure your request is completed successfully.

This notification indicates that your covered entity does not have any contract pharmacies available to be designated. This notification is typically received when the covered entity has no contract pharmacies that are in a limited distribution network for a particular product.

The selected entity has already been granted a wholly owned contract pharmacy exemption.

This notification indicates that the covered entity making a designation already has a wholly owned contract pharmacy exemption for this manufacturer.

Manufacturer policies may not allow both a wholly owned contract pharmacy exemption and a contract pharmacy designation.

Exceeding designation limit for a specific manufacturer within the 12-month limit.

Depending on the pharmaceutical manufacturer, some allow covered entities to change their contract pharmacy designation once every twelve (12) months (from the date of first designation) unless the contract pharmacy has been terminated in HRSA OPAIS before the 12-month period is complete.

HIN notification

If you receive a HIN notification while designating, please submit your designation. The 340B ESP support team will review and reach out to you if additional information is needed.

Use this process to submit a Designation Report Request through the in-platform messenger. This allows you to request designation-related data directly from the support team for further review, reporting, or reconciliation.


Viewing a Contract Pharmacy Designation Without a 340B ESP Account

  1. Navigate to 340B ESP website.

  2. Click the blue messenger icon located in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

  3. Select Messages.

  4. Click Send us a message.

  5. In your message, indicate that you would like to make a Designation Report Request.

Once your request is submitted, a support specialist will review your message and follow up to assist with your Designation Report Request. They may reach out with clarifying questions or provide the requested data directly. If needed, they will also help guide you through next steps to ensure you receive the correct designation information for your use case.
