Column mappings let users match the field names in their medical and pharmacy claims files to the fields required by 340B ESP. Creating column mapping templates saves you time by allowing users to reuse established mappings across multiple submissions. Users can set multiple column mapping templates for use across multiple file types.
How to Create a Column Mapping Template
Navigate to the Pharmacy Submissions or Medical Submissions tab, depending on which column map you want to create.
If you have no existing column mapping templates, you will be prompted to create one. Click Continue.
Click Attach to attach a file from your local environment.
Once attached, you will see two columns. The left column is the list of fields collected by 340B ESP™. Those fields that are required are indicated accordingly. The right column includes all fields from your attached data file.
Click into a field header from the attached data file (visible on the right side) to move it into the corresponding field header in the column mapping template on the left side. Example, the field Product Service ID from your attached file would be moved into the field NDC_11 in the 340B ESP™ column by clicking the field and moving it over.
Map the corresponding field name from your attached file to the 340B ESP™ field for each required field in order to save the column mapping. You will be unable to save the column mapping until all required 340B ESP™ have a corresponding field from your attached file.
Once complete, click Start a Submission.
Enter a name for your new column mapping template. This template name is for internal use only and will not appear in your submission.
Click Attach to upload your file for column mapping. This file is only used to configure the mapping and can be deleted after the mapping have been saved.
Once you have attached your data file, the field headers of your file will appear in the right-side panel as shown below.
If there are any remaining field headers that must be mapped to the corresponding field from your attached file, you will be able to do this here. The below example has no fields mapped to Billing UOM and Payer Unit of Measure.
If a formatting issue is detected, ESP will display an Error alert. To correct the issue, click the trash icon to remove the incorrect mapping, then assign the correct field header.
Once all required fields have a corresponding column, you will be able to click Save and Submit.
After saving a column mapping template, it becomes available each time you attach a file with a matching field header. When you upload a new file, you can select your saved template from the Column Mappings tab, allowing ESP to automatically apply the predefined mappings. You can also edit an existing template or delete a template later, if you decide.
